6 Days Mikumi, Udzungwa & Ruaha Safari
Overview
This 6-day safari combines the open savannahs of Mikumi, the rainforest and waterfalls of Udzungwa, and the vast wilderness of Ruaha National Park. It’s a perfect mix of classic game drives, walking safaris, and unique southern circuit scenery.
Itineraries
Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Depart Dar es Salaam in the morning and drive to Mikumi National Park. Arrive for an afternoon game drive across the open plains, where you may spot elephants, buffalo, lions, and giraffes. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp in Mikumi.
Day 2: Full Day in Mikumi
Enjoy a full-day safari in Mikumi. Game drives take you through Mkata floodplain, home to wildebeest, zebras, and predators. Picnic lunch in the park, followed by evening game viewing before returning for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mikumi – Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. In the afternoon, hike through the tropical forest to the famous Sanje Waterfalls and enjoy stunning views. Spot rare primates and colorful birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Udzungwa.
Day 4: Udzungwa – Ruaha National Park
Depart Udzungwa after breakfast and continue to Ruaha National Park. Arrive at your lodge/camp and enjoy an evening at leisure or a short game drive depending on time. Overnight in Ruaha.
Day 5: Full Day in Ruaha
Spend the day exploring Ruaha, Tanzania’s largest national park. Game drives reveal lions, elephants, leopards, and diverse antelope species. The Great Ruaha River attracts abundant wildlife, making this a highlight of the safari. Dinner and overnight in Ruaha.
Day 6: Ruaha – Dar es Salaam
Morning game drive followed by breakfast. Depart Ruaha and drive (or optional flight) back to Dar es Salaam where the safari ends.
